In 2017 Houston Council Member Gallegos and HGSCA reactivated the relationship between the Houston and Guayaquil Fire Departments. The relationship was previously facilitated and established 20 years ago by HGSCA. After two years of hard work, the efforts were fruitful and the institutions have strengthened their relationship. Also, the relationship acts as a conduit to encourage cross organizational collaboration and generate collateral benefit to neighboring cities and towns.
