In 2018, HGSCA and ESPOL signed a MoU to support each other by generating opportunities and expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest. Therefore, ESPAE, Ecuador's premier business school, accredited by AACSB International and AMBA, and ranked among the top business schools in Latin America for the quality of its education and research, reached out to HGSCA the same year to explore the possibility to organize a delegation visit to learn more about the most prominent trends in healthcare administration.
Immediately, HGSCA started contacting Universities to find the best match for the Health Administration program at ESPAE. University of Houston Clear Lake which is considered the best due to its nationally ranked healthcare management graduate program, and because it awards the highest number of master's degrees in this field of study in Houston, answered our call.
After receiving confirmation from University of Houston Clear Lake of its willingness to work with ESPAE/ESPOL new initiative , we contacted the Ecuadorian Association in Houston, and Dr. Pedro Arguello to assist us in creating a meaningful and positive experience for the students.
The visit lasted 5 days and was held from April 7 to April 11. The delegation attended classes at UHCL and met representatives from different hospitals to observe new innovations in the Health Administration Field.
The assistance of Robert Gallegos, Houston Council Member District I, Jennifer Ngo, Sister Cities of Houston - Liaison Officer, Dr. Pedro Arguello, Andrew Sherr, Consul General of United States in Guayaquil, and Ruth Duenas, Consul General of Ecuador as well as the collaboration of Jorge Gomez, President of the Ecuadorian Association in Houston, Adriana Calhoon - AC Media TV, and Cyclone Anaya @ Woodway Restaurant were key in maximizing the successful outcome of the visit.
There were many remarkable moments to celebrate for both educational institutions.
Luis W. Moyano, President of HGSCA, stated, "Our vision is to assist our government and community as citizen diplomats to generate wealth through encouraging innovations and new perspectives in the Ecuadorian Health industry. "
