May 8, 2016

The delivery of the first aid shipment to the city of Guayaquil, which was received by Maria Gloria Alarcon on behalf of Honorable, Mayor Jaime Nebot, was just the first of many successful projects to be completed.

HGSCA has now received a $3,000 Furniture set donation of any selection such as a dinning room, bedroom or living room, from SuperNova Furniture located in Houston to raise funds for the Ecuadorian Victims of the earthquake.

More than 200 donation has been received but more are needed. You can make a difference helping us!

We hope that more people embark in this journey and help. By now, many have heard the heartbreaking news. A 7.8-magnitude earthquake shook coastal Ecuador on April 16th; ravaging the country’s already-fragile infrastructure. Across the nation, the powerful quake and hundreds of associated aftershocks flattened homes, collapsed roads and bridges, knocked out electricity and communications, and triggered mudslides that have stranded some of the most vulnerable victims from getting assistance. More than 700 are confirmed dead. An additional 2,500 are injured, some gravely. Many remain missing; likely trapped beneath the rubble of buildings destroyed by the disaster. Sadly, as rescue efforts continue, the death toll will likely rise. UNICEF has estimated that more than 150,000 children are affected by this earthquake.
